Item Description

Friedelite is a relatively rare silicate that is only found in a few localities world wide. There are hundreds of species that occur around the Franklin mining district, and Friedelite is among the most classic and well known. This piece hosts many small (less than 1 mm), sharp, lustrous, brown crystals of Friedelite with an unknown white mineral on typical Franklin matrix. This piece is from the famous New Jersey collection of Richard A. Kosnar, and was once in the collection of John E. MacDonald.
