Item Description
Note the old HENRY HEULAND (1778-1856) LABEL DATED 1832. He was the major mineral dealer of his day and this is a rare treasure, to go along with such a historic American rock from such a historic American locale. This is a nice example anyhow, of the classic franklinites from this old mine, with sharp black octohedrons embedded in calcite. The crystals reach 2 cm although one is not complete. It has spectacular and unique surviving provenance that is simply fun to see preserved! ex Obodda Collection. NOTE information here: http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=932, courtesy Mineralogical Record. Wendell Wilson's research reveals that the "H" indicates a specimen from Heuland's personal collection
