Item Description

A classic textbook Franklinite crystal with very sharp and highly lustrous octahedral form sits in massive Calcite matrix. The crystal measures 1.7 cm across, and the high luster gives the crystal an almost metallic appearance. Franklin is one of the most prolific and renowned localities in the world, and Franklinite is one of the signature species from this area. I realize that the majority of species from Franklin are rather rare and do not lend themselves to excellent display specimens, but I honestly feel that every good worldwide collection should have at least a few specimens from Franklin it, and Franklinite is certainly one of the most characteristic species from this famous historic mining district.
