Item Description
SUPERB crystal of octahedral Franklinite from the Co-TYPE LOCALITY of Sterling Hill. Sitting perfectly on top of the Calcite and Willemite matrix, the well-formed Franklinite has very good luster and is 1.5 cm on edge. Naturally, both the Calcite and the Willemite fluoresce vividly, one of the famous traits of the Franklin Mining District. Formerly in the collection of Dr. Otto Runge (1881-1942), this is a great and classic large miniature from Sterling Hill, probably from the 1900-1960 range, and such are usually valued in the $1500 range. For a good reference, look no further than the most recent issue of Rocks and Minerals magazine, V. 96, #1.
