This is a brand new first-time ever AUCTION for us, of a famous old Amethyst GEM MINE, known widely in the gem trade but mostly forgotten by mineral collectors outside of Arizona itself. This mine has been worked since the 1920s and the finest quality stones are sought-after worldwide by collectors. Once upon a time, this was the source of the most famous amethyst in the USA, and mineral collectors knew it for specimens as well. Reinvigorated by recent investments based on the gem mining value of cut Arizona amethyst, this mine is now open to tours. Access is ONLY by helicopter on a flight to 6200 feet with a beautiful panoramic view! Our auction package includes a guided tour (1-2 people) of the historic 4 Peaks Amethyst mine! Take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to tour the Arizona Four Peaks Amethyst mine, now run for gem production, as the stones are beautiful and intensely colored. The private tour, normally valued at least at $1750, includes a helicopter ride to the mine, and a morning adventure (4 hours total). You will hike up to the mine entrance where you will actually be able to enter the Mine and dig for your own Amethyst (crystals are rare, but do occur!). *You must be at least 12 years of age. This is a “Bucket List” Arizona Experience with breathtaking views atop the Mazatzal Mountains. Note: Auction does not include the value of any specimens recovered. If something significant is discovered on the trip, the buyer will have the first chance to buy it at a fair price (Four Peaks Mining can also cut and facet stones for you, and create a piece of jewelry from your find).
