Fossil Ivory (ex Willard Wulff Collection)

A really cool fossilized piece of raw ivory from Alaska. The piece is not polished as far as I can tell, but it does show beautiful internal structure. This specimen comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. The piece comes with a hand-written label from Wulff, but doesn't say what species it's from. I've seen pieces of carved ivory from Alaska that sell for thousands of dollars, but I honestly don't know the value of an historic, un-carved specimen like this.
