Item Description

This fine split nodule of a fossil fern has sharp definition of the diverging large leaves. It is Middle Pennsylvanian in age, about 300 Mya and is from coal beds in Illinois. This could be from the Francis Creek Shale Formation, rather than the Carbondale Formation. Excellent material from the Robert Nowakowski Collection.
