Item Description
Some of the best crystallized specimen of Peridot today are those from Sapat Gali in Pakistan. Typically Peridot is found as loose single crystals in other world localities, or more typically as broken sections of crystal which are really only suitable for cutting gems. The piece Sapat Gali are certainly in the higher echelon in terms of size, color, sharpness and transparency for actual crystals in the modern era of collecting. These attractive Peridots crystals began showing up in the early 1990s and no world locality has produced the quality and quantity of euhedral Peridot crystals like Sapat Gali. This small sized piece is filled with many rich lime green colored, sharp, well-formed, euhedral, gemmy/translucent crystals, with minor attached matrix. The top portion of the crystals glow with color when backlit. It's rare to find such a dense multi-crystal group from this locality, most of the time you only see singles, or groups with a few crystals, but there are close to 20 crystals on this piece that I can see.
From the collection of Jack Halpern No. 2505. Jack was born May 18, 1920 in Brooklyn, New York, but has been a long-time resident of San Francisco.
