Item Description
A very fine and uncommon, large, pocket growth cluster of sharp fluoro-richterite and K Feldspar variety adularia crystals from this noted Ontario locale. Fluoro-richterite is an uncommon Amphibole Group species. The highly lustrous, green to black, well-striated, fluoro-richterite crystals reach about 9.0 cm in length and the impressive broad crystal at the top with the nifty notch is 8.4 cm wide. This impressive jackstraw cluster of crystals has striking visual appeal from many angles and most of the many major fluoro-richterites are sharply terminated, with some being contacted (big crystal at the top) or bruised. Periphery wear to the piece (mostly on the back) and oxide coatings on the terminations are noted, but have minimal impact to rare combination quality of this fine piece. Undoutably old-time material. This piece was originally sold to a collector as a Erongo schorl specimen! Wrong. Now rare, excellent and important. 5.7 pounds or 2.6 kilos. MUCH, MUCH BETTER IN PERSON!!
