Item Description

An exceptionally fine and rare, large, pocket growth cluster of sharp fluoro-richterite crystals dramatically attached to a large terminated quartz crystal from this noted Ontario locale. Fluoro-richterite is an uncommon Amphibole Group species. The highly lustrous, green to black, well-striated, fluoro-richterite crystals reach 7.5 cm in length and most crystals have flashy, translucent, olive-green areas. There is one bent crystal. Most of the crystals have contacted terminations against the pocket walls, but there are some terminated crystals. The impressive quartz spire is 15.5 cm long and is heavily etched. The glassy crystal has a striking water-clear termination with a translucent lower section, which really adds character. Technically doubly terminated, the broken base of the etched quartz is healed with dense stepped-growth faces. This impressive jackstraw cluster of crystals attached to the quartz crystal has striking visual appeal from all sides. The noted periphery wear has very minimal impact to outstanding and rare combination quality of this fine large piece. Undoutably old-time material. Ex Richard Hauck Quartz Collection. Value???
