Item Description
The famous Blanchard Mine in New Mexico is well-known locality for producing some beautiful secondary copper minerals like Linarite, Brochantite, Aurichalcite, etc. With that said, the mine is probably best known for its amazingly rich blue and purple Fluorites. This piece is a great example of said material, but it has the added perk of hosting rarely associated Wulfenite crystals! You almost never see this combo from the Blanchard Mine. This small cabinet specimen hosts many sharp, well-formed, gemmy, rich blue color cubic crystals of Fluorite measuring up to 1.3 cm on edge. If you look closely, you'll see several scattered tiny pyramidal Wulfenite crystals of an orange hue. The contrast of the Wulfenite against the Fluorite is excellent. There are some contacted areas on the piece, so it's not damage free, but it's still a very colorful and alluring specimen of this seldom seen material from one of the most classic localities in New Mexico. If you collect Fluorites, minerals of New Mexico or unusual association pieces, don't miss out on this beauty. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
