Item Description

While the Elmwood Mine is world famous for its superb Calcites, the Fluorites from this mine are just as iconic. This cabinet sized specimen host many sharp, well-formed, gemmy, beautiful purple colored cubic crystals of Fluorite measuring up to 1.8 cm on edge associated with deep reddish-black "Ruby Jack" Sphalerite sitting on a matrix coated with tiny Dolomite and Quartz crystals. The Fluorites look great when backlit, and the Sphalerites show beautiful deep flashes of red color when backlit. Most of the Fluorites are in excellent condition, though a few small nicks / cleaves can be seen. The piece overall is in great shape, and the only damage I can see is a separation mark on the top / back portion where it was removed from the pocket wall. A beautiful association specimen and a showy overall piece from this well-known mine. The pieces comes to us from the Mark Kielbaso collection, and there was a note with the specimen that states it was found in 1989 at the OG #J portion of the mine.
