Item Description

Despite the fact that there are only a handful of minerals found at the Elmwood mine, some of them are among the most recognizable minerals in the world. The classic purple Fluorites are a favorite among collectors, and it's easy to see why. This piece features a few sharp, GEM/gemmy, beautiful royal purple color purple cubic crystals of Fluorite up to 1.2 cm with minor crystallized, lustrous reddish-brown Sphalerite plus small Dolomite and Quartz on matrix. A classic example of an Elmwood Fluorite. Good quality for the material, and fairly aesthetic to boot. This piece is close to 30 years old, and is a worthwhile display piece especially coming from this prominent and celebrated zinc ore body! A good quality display piece for the material.
