Item Description
An imposing large, and very unusual fluorite combination specimen from old finds at the famous Rogerley Mine. The lustrous and translucent, rich purple cubes, to a large 8.2 cm, are dramatically coated with two generations of quartz: first the layers of drusy quartz preferentially coating faces; and then the tiny, gem-like, scintillating, quartz points. It is sparkling and beautiful in the lights! The fluorite glows with natural fluorescence under any light and really glows under UV light. Nearly pristine, with only one gently cleaved peripheral corner on the large cube, this is a Dramatic and excellent large specimen. Ex Al Ordway Collection. Valued $1500-2000. BETTER IN PERSON as it is hard to capture the rich purple tones AND the white quartz well, without overdoing the lighting, so the piece is brighter colored than it seems here when in a case and well lit.
