Item Description
Here we have a wonderful full-sized miniature specimen of Fluorite from this locally well-known locality about 25 miles south of Grand Junction, Colorado. These Fluorites from Unaweep Canyon have a distinctive octahedral form with vibrant green (and sometimes purple) color that makes them instantly recognizable. This piece is a featuring a layer of solid, gemmy green octahedra of Fluorite with a scattered groups of white Quartz free of matrix. No real damage that I can see with the naked eye, save the edges where it was removed from the pocket wall. Hard to find on the market today, and certainly worth picking up if you collect Fluorites, Colorado minerals or specimens from the United States. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#11844). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). A beautiful and attractive old-timer from this famous locale.
