Fluorite with Quartz

There are many prestigious localities in China that have produced some of the most iconic Fluorite specimens in the last 25 years. The famous Xianghualing Mine has given the mineral community truly magnificent examples of the species, typically in the form of big gemmy green cubes on matrix. This piece is an impressive showy cabinet specimen from the Xianghualing Mine featuring a predominant modified cubic crystal measuring 3.6 cm on edge, with gorgeous green color, along with sharp, well-formed faces and fine internal gemminess. There are several other smaller Fluorites adorning the matrix, which is partially covered by tiny milky white Quartz crystals. My favorite aspect of the piece is that it sits on its own without the aid of a base or clay! I honestly can't see any damage of note on the main crystal group at the top of the piece, but there is a small contact on the back where it was detached from the pocket wall.
