Item Description
The El Hammam Mine in Morocco has produced a great range of colors of Fluorite specimens over the years, and this particular piece has a beautiful golden-honey color (especially when backlit) throughout most of the specimen. The Fluorite cubes range up to about 3 cm on edge, and they are partially coated with microcrystals of pyrite that are lustrous and iridescent, along with preferential areas of mm-size Quartz crystals. I'm told that the Fluorites from this mine have an unusually high REE (rare earth element) content, which might explain the wide range of colors found there. Recently deaccessed from the Tim Sherburn collection. A fine example with sparkle and color.
