Fluorite with Pyrite

Fluorite is not a mineral that is often in the front of people's minds when it comes to Moroccan minerals, but the El Hammam Mine has produced some excellent and rather colorful examples over the years. These pieces typically feature good sized, sharp, well-formed, gemmy crystals and this piece is a good example of said material. I'm told that the Fluorites from this mine have an unusually high REE content, which might explain the wide range of colors. This piece hosts dozens of gemmy green colored cubes of Fluorite measuring up to 1.6 cm on edge which are partially coated by tiny metallic iridescent Pyrite with minor white Calcite underneath. Good quality overall, though there are few rough spots. The color is quite good for the locality, and certainly desirable for any fan of worldwide Fluorites or minerals of Morocco.
