Fluorite with Hematite and Baryte (published)

An impressive plate of very sharp, attractive Fluorites from the well-known, but now-closed, Erika Mine in Bavaria, and from one of the most important collections of German specializations put together in the 1900s (Kay collected over 10,000 specimens, emphasizing Europe, during her nearly 90 year career as a collector). The glassy, highly translucent, intergrown cubes reach up to 2.5 cm on edge, and the Fluorites have a rich, fern-green color. The cubes are highlighted, dramatically, by preferential Hematite inclusions, as well as preferential dustings of mm-size Baryte crystals. The plate backlights well, and the Fluorites have excellent fluorescence. A very fine example from this extinct locality. This is prominently illustrated in the 64-page article on Kay in Mineralien Welt (6-2017), the German language mineral magazine. Kay had visited a number of times in the 1950s-1970s, and had an important large suite of material from this quarry, noted for the odd crystal habits.
