Fluorite (with gem corners) with Sphalerite & Dolomite

Elmwood is another one of those classic Fluorite localities that stands the test of uniqueness through time, and this hefty and fine combination piece well represents the specimens from there. The main, 6.2 cm crystal is actually rather gemmy, with the finely stepped surfaces creating a rather textured and frosted look. The corners are classic Elmwood style at its best, rare today - with water clear windows looking into the interior. This is caused by solution effects in the pocket as the crystals formed, tens of millions of years ago, and is a special quality feature we see in only a small few Elmwood pieces. The outer edges are a deeper purple, which is also indicative of the Fluorites from there. The main crystal even has a mild purple fluorescence. Accentuating the Fluorite is a highly lustrous Sphalerite and many mm-sized Dolomite rhombs draped along the outer edges of the piece. A good, representative Elmwood that has size and presence.
