Fluorite with Dolomite

Historic german fluorites can sometimes be "loveable antiques" that do not quite meet modern desires for pretty sparkling fluorite specimens.....although of course they are fascinating and important. this particular specimen, however, has a unique gemminess and translucency to it, a sharp luster, and dramatic shape! It is an antique mineral that holds up to modern assumptions and demands of quality. They have been collected at numerous times from the 1800s through the 1900s, and we cannot say in which era this was found, but it IS a German classic. Usually these are more opaque and less sparkly. The accents of small dolomite crystals is a welcome addition here. The piece is in excellent condition overall, and has crystals to 3 cm on edge or 4 cm across. The first photo shows the piece backlit, to show off the translucency. No damage to the display face, except a couple tiny dings maybe. The white spots on one crystal; at base are remnant baryte attachments. From the collection of German dealer, publisher, collector Christian Weise. Fluorescent strong purple in mixed UV light, is a bonus.
