Item Description

A beautiful old classic specimen from an undisclosed mine in County Durham, England. At the top of the piece you can see a classic, sharp, lustrous, GEMMY penetration twin of cubic Fluorite (with the largest crystal measuring 2.3 cm on edge) sitting atop additional Fluorite cubes, and studded with tiny doubly-terminated Quartz crystals, on very minor matrix. The color of the Fluorites in indoor lighting is a smoky grey-green hue, but when you take the piece outside in the sunlight it displays gorgeous vivid purple daylight fluorescence (see video). Overall the piece is in good shape, and the only damage is around the periphery where the piece was removed from the pocket wall. A great example of these wonderful and celebrated Fluorites from this historic region of Northern England.
