Item Description

Here we have one of the classic Fluorites from the State Route 111 construction site in Trumbull, Connecticut. There are many localities in the area where specimens were found during construction of a retail plaza (including the Old Mine Plaza construction site). There are many Fluorites found in the area, but this one is special because it's associated with the rare beryllium silicate, Bavenite. A sharp, well-formed, lustrous, gemmy, soft green colored octahedral group of Fluorite measuring 1.7 cm is associated with white to tan colored "sprays" of Bavenite covering the display side of this attractive small cabinet specimen. The Fluorite group is undamaged, and the piece sits beautifully as you can see from the photos. Priced at $500 in the inventory. A great piece for any collector of Connecticut minerals or Fluorites. From the worldwide collection of David Burgess (1951-2016). David was a prolific species collector from Newington, Connecticut, and the namesake for the extremely rare cobalt arsenate species Burgessite, which he discovered.
