Fluorite with Baryte

Item Description

Classic Blanchard blue fluorite cubes are richly and aesthetically strewn on the quartz matrix on this showy small cabinet from one of the famous mines at Bingham, New Mexico. The beautiful, gemmy cubes, to 1.0 cm, have satin luster faces and are nicely enhanced by subtle darker blue edge phantoms. The cubes in the interior of the front are all pristine. Rich purple LW UV fluorescence. The Yankee Dog Claim on the label is incorrect for this specimen. The Claim is in Hidalgo County and produces sculptural Chalcedony specimens with stunning lime-green fluorescence. The piece is from one of the famous mines at Bingham. The video and camera did not capture the true richer blue color of the cubes. There are more fluorites on the back along with sections of baryte blades. Collected by Brian Huntsman, a well-known Southwestern USA field collector. Ex John Whatley Collection, a well-known Georgia collector (1939-2022) and acquired in 2004. The piece displays well without aid. Rich, showy and highly representative fluorite from the noted locale.
