Item Description
A nice combination specimen from the Taolin Mine featuring sharp, translucent cubic Fluorite crystals measuring up to 1.8 cm on edge which are associated with stepped blades of white Barite free of matrix. The Fluorites have hundreds of tiny little "blister" like modified faces on the surface of the cubes. Internally, the color of the Fluorites is a mixture of green and purple creating almost silvery hues in areas. Very little damage to be seen on the display side, and one rarely gets a chance to purchase a piece of this material from this locality. Priced at $800 in the inventory. Ex Dr. Stephen Smale Collection. Along with amassing one of the finest private mineral collections in the world, Steve is a renowned mathematician. His accomplishments include being awarded the Fields Medal in 1966 along with being the awarded the Wolf Prize in mathematics in 2007.
