Fluorite with Barite (ex Bob Reynolds Collection)

A beautiful cabinet sized piece of classic purple cubic Fluorite crystals with Barite from the world famous locality at Berbes. The Fluorites are VERY GEMMY and show a combination of purple "cores" with blue coloring on the exterior edges of the cubes, creating fantastic "phantom" zoning. The largest Fluorite crystal on this piece measures 1.7 cm on edge and nearly all of them are pristine in the central portion of the specimen, but there are some broken crystals around the periphery where the piece was removed from the pocket wall. The Fluorites have excellent luster and internal gemminess as you can see from the photos. The Barites have formed in semi-"rosettes" comprising thin white bladed crystals, and the largest crystal group measures 5.9 cm long. These are some of the most desirable Fluorites in the world, and this one is great to view up close. No real matrix to speak of, but you don't need it since the piece is so showy and three-dimensional. Valued at $1,250 in the inventory. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
