Item Description

A layer of white aragonite partially coats cubes of equant, lustrous and translucent, emerald green fluorite on this rather unusual specimen from this classic old mine, source of fluorites on and off for over 100 years. However, this "snowdrift pocket" of a few years back was unique amongst others, in that it had the association of a snowlike blanket of aragonite covering the fluorites....well, partially covering. Some covered too much, others covered too little; and this is just the right mix! The result is a unique aesthetic, even among a quantity of past green fluorite from here. The glowing green crystals reach to 1.2 cm across and are green in room light, and as a bonus go strongly fluorescent even in daylight. Specimens from this pocket rarely turn up on the market now. The company that mined them valued them very highly at the time, and those who bought seem to have kept. Valued $2000-3000 now
