Fluorite with Aragonite

Item Description

Starting as a limestone aggregate quarry in the 19th century, the Rogerley quarry and what would become the Diana Maria mine, were discovered by collectors Lindsay Greenbank and Mick Sutcliffe in the now abandoned limestone quarry during the early 1970s. Starting in 2017 in the western extension of the Rogerley quarry, a new commercial specimen mine, the Diana Maria mine, started operation on the set of roughly east-west trending mineralized cross-veins. This specimen comes from the newer working at the Diana Maria mine, from the Queen of Green pocket (around 2018). A heavy coating of snowy white aragonite coats all but a baker's dozen of sharp, gemmy green twinned fluorites. The largest gem green fluorite cluster poking through the aragonite measures 3.5 cm across overall; and is very sharp and translucent. Unfortunately, there is some natural damage on the front edge of the largest cube but it is priced accordingly. If you're looking for a more affordable cabinet sized specimen from these now classic finds,unique among all the too-many pockets discovered here which generally all look the same, this is a great choice! It is very dramatic and stands out. This entire pocket was sold to dealer Marshall Sussman at the time, and his price and label are attached (noted at $3750 on the back).
