Fluorite (Willard Perkin & Kay Robertson Coll.)

Item Description

An adorable matrix thumbnail of two intergrown gemmy pretty purple fluorite cuboctahedrons from famed Mina Ojuela. The lustrous and glassy crystals have striking stepped-growth, lightly etched faces, that add much character to this cutie from the Kay Robertson Collection # 5059 and acquired from Willard Perkin of "Perky Box" fame. Classic older material from the Willard Perkin collection or dealer stock (note the label on his TN box). He is generally credited as the inventor of the "Perky Box" for standard thumbnails display. The specimen comes in an original "Perky Box". Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
