Item Description

A very fine and sculptural old-time 360-degree fluorite and celestine cabinet from the famous quarry at Clay Center. Gemmy, classic "root beer" cubes, to 1.7 cm, are densely intergrown on this impressive and rich mounded specimen. The cubes are typically complemented with contrasting lustrous, tabular, colorless to white celestine crystals. Many of the cube GLOW with golden-orange color under bright light. The brown color is attributed to hydrocarbon inclusions, which also causes the white fluorescence. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection and acquired in 2001. Formerly in the Werner Krause Collection from the Eugene Sensel Collection (purchased for $9 in 1967 according to Chet's catalogue).
