Item Description

RARE COMBINATION AND LOCALE! A striking and impressive combination specimen of a large stepped-growth, lustrous, translucent, purple, fluorite cube with a very nifty preferential coatings of tiny, sparkly, micro calcite crystals. The tiny darker purple speckles (radiation burns?) in the fluorite really add pizzazz. This piece is from the Kentucky portion of the famous and now extinct Illinois-Kentucky Fluorspar District. SELDOM are Kentucky combo pieces of this quality and size available on the market and are EXTREMELY RARE from this obscure mine. Very good 3-dimensionality. Ex Russell MacFall Collection. Very modest purple fluorescence on this rarity from the Bob Trimingham Collection acquired in 1975.
