Item Description
Aesthetically intergrown fluorite cubes, to 4.3 cm, compose this sculptural large mounded plate. The matte lustre deep purple cubes appear to be nearly opaque in some light. However, bright lighting and back lighting reveal these cubes are actually gemmy/translucent with purple interiors and sharp violet edge phantoms. One edge and the bottom of the plate are richly covered with bone-white barite blades, a VERY RARE accessory from the Rosiclare area. Most of the mines in the area were closed by the 1950s or 60s. Classic, very fine and rare large hard to get older fluorite combination material. Valued at $1250 by the former dealer
