Item Description
Despite the fact that only a few species are found at this mine, they are highly prized by collectors and well known worldwide for their distinctiveness and quality. This specimen features a few Fluorites cubes, but the predominant crystal shows the unique gemmy yellow distinctive clear "gem window" corners unique to Elmwood Fluorites, providing windows into the gemmy interior. It is these corners that sometimes remain when the Fluorite crystals etch away due to corrosive solutions in the pocket that attack corners differently than center faces. In this case, the etching has only just begun on the side faces leaving this pretty contrast. The largest Fluorite measures 3.1 cm on edge, and is sitting on a small amount of matrix with a bit of white Dolomite. You would be amazed at how quickly Elmwood stuff has disappeared from the market following the closing of the mine, and the prices are going straight up.
