Fluorite (uncommon locality)

Item Description

This is a beautiful and fairly hard to find Fluorite specimen from the Pöhla-Tellerhäuser Mine, better known for its contemporary specimens of Baryte and Silver. This piece has a bright golden-yellow color, which is more lively than the few others I've seen from the mine, and features a coverage of sharp, well-formed, gemmy cubic crystals measuring up to 5 mm on silvery Chalcedony matrix. Upon close inspection, I can see some tiny red Hematite flakes on the Chalcedony, but you really need a loupe to spot them. Most of the Fluorites are undamaged, though a few contacted areas are visible, but it's a fine quality Fluorite for the mine with excellent desirable color.
From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#270 D), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel.
