Fluorite (uncommon Cornish locality)

Item Description

An uncommon Fluorite specimen from the South Crofty Tin Project in Cornwall featuring sharp, well-formed, lustrous cubic crystals measuring up to 4.0 cm on edge, with no matrix. The foremost crystals are gemmy/translucent, with an interesting smoky/silvery hue, and the back portion of the piece features a pale golden color. No major damage to the front/display side of the piece, but there are minor imperfections that can be seen. Overall it's showy, and when compared to the others I've seen online, I think it's definitely one of the better pieces I've seen from the locality.
From the collection Dr. Robert ("Rob") Bowell, a geochemist and adjunct professor in Geochemistry and Mineralogy at Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Rob has a background in applied geology in tropical and deeply weathered terrains, he also has done mining consulting in the fields of due diligence, financial and technical audits, process chemistry, environmental geochemistry, environmental engineering and mineralogy.
