Item Description
A fine, large, sharp, gemmy, interpenetrant twin (on a cube-diagonal twinning axis) - as often seen from this locality - with rich emerald green color. This form is what makes these specimens so desirable from the English lead mines at Weardale. These are modern classics and really beautiful Fluorites on a worldwide scale. Good color ranging from the gorgeous green hue indoors to the classic purple shade in sunlight (daylight fluorescence). The piece shows the classic bright purple UV fluorescence that is often seen in Rogerley Fluorites. The specimen is not 100% perfect, but it's a very good sized gemmy twin from this prolific modern locality the English lead mines district. From the collection of the long time, beloved, well-known French field collector, Paul Zerfass (Collection #526). Zerfass built this worldwide collection over nearly 50 years, many of which were personally collected. A biography featuring specimens from his collection (along with his face on the cover) is in the May - June 2017 issue of French mineral magazine, Le Regne Mineral. We have a .pdf copy of the article for anybody interested in reading it (though it's mostly in French). Just drop us a line and know that you'd like to have a copy.
