Item Description
A fantastic, showy and fine quality display specimen of the famous colorless Fluorites from Dalnegorsk. This small cabinet piece features manyl razor sharp, very lustrous, WATER CLEAR, colorless cubes ("ice cubes") of Fluorite measuring up to 1.3 cm on edge sitting on matrix. There are some imperfections so the piece isn't 100% pristine, but it's really pretty in person and notably three-dimensional, which isn't always the case with these pieces. Flourite is found in a wide range of colors, but colorless crystals are typically rare in nature, and it's actually a sign of chemical purity, as all colored Fluorites have some kind of chemical impurity that act as the chromophore. This is older material from the 1990s, and nearly impossible to find these days. I value this piece around $1,500 retail for reference. From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#231 Ru), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel. We at The Arkenstone have the privilege of offering the remainder of this great worldwide collection over the next two to three years through our various platforms.
