Item Description

Emplaced on a white feldspar matrix, is a large, lustrous and gemmy, complexly colored ( pink and green!) fluorite crystal, measuring 7.25 cm in length. The crystal is really interesting in person and is very difficult to convey in photos, somehow. The zoning of the green and pink, combined with the depth of color and transparency, just foil our cameras. Fortunately, the sharply terminated top of the crystal faces out to the display view and you can see its complexity. The termination is complete an dfreestanding, remarkably. The long facing-out edge of this elongated crystal of fluorite simply grew against enclosing rock and shows muscovite contacts and asymettry where it was prevented from forming smooth edges: it is not damaged. Surrounding the fluorite are crystals of lustrous, silvery gray muscovite to 1.3 cm across. The specimen weighs 1132 grams so it is good sized on a shelf, and trimmed to present the fluorite very well. Better in person! I can truly add that this is as unique a fluorite as any I have seen from here, and with striking color patterning I have never seen so intense in the same piece. Ex Dr. Jim Gebel Collection. Valued $2500 at least, by the owner, and I concur. its a special piece
