Fluorite & Sphalerite (Ross Lillie Coll.)

Large, rich grape-purple fluorite cubes and very pretty smaller violet cubes are dramatically clusterered on this striking and sculptural two-sided matrix rib from the famous Denton Mine. The large cubes, to 2.0 cm, are lustrous, with frosted stepped-growth faces, including one with a striking hoppered face. Bright front and back lighting reveals the translucent and beautiful variable purple hues. Gem rubyjack sphalerite crystals on both sides and numerous tiny calcite scalenohedrons, chalcopyrite sphenoids and a few baryte blades (only on one side!) are excellent accents to this very fine fluorite from the Ross Lillie Collection # 1295. Mined in circa 1988. Pristine. Valued at $750-1000.
