Item Description

An unusually deceptive and very showy large two-sided combination rib from the Denton Mine. The front of this aesthetic free-standing rolling specimen is covered with translucent, two-toned, grape purple with colorless interiors fluorite cubes, to 3.0 cm. The back is strikingly different. Splendent rubyjack sphalerite crystals with a couple of sharp galena cuboctahedrons on a thin crust are dramatically accented by a curved cluster of cubes with dramatically casted faces after barite. DECEPTIVE, in that the mounded front is underlain by a surreal cavern with at least 14 openings! Mined in August, 1993. Ross' label states: "Very unusual fluorite formation; may be a cast after barite similar to those found more ofter in the Hill-Ledford Mine." Faint purple fluorescece. The photos cannot do this exceptional and rare large combination piece justice from the Ross Lillie Collection # 1132. Valued at $1000-1500. Dramatically pristine.
