Item Description
Fluorite, sphalerite and barite combinations are an Elmwood classic and this is a showy and unusual large specimen from the Consie Prince Collection. Dramatically clustered, intergrown, bi-colored fluorite cubes to 4.0 cm have scintillating, dense stepped-growth faces. Striking radiation burns on the outer 1-2 mm of the crystals are visible on preferential cube faces. The fluorites are set on the mounded matrix of sharp, rubyjack sphalerite crystals accented with a very nifty cluster of oxide-tinted barite blades. The cubes have scattered modest corner and edge wear and periphery wear is noted on one side of the sphalerite field. This remains a fine, older combination example of the species with striking radiation burns and multiple display views. Modest purple fluorescence.
