Item Description

A showy and excellent combination from this well-known El Paso County locale. Lustrous, translucent, grayish-white fluorite cubes to 4.0 cm with smoky quartz crystals are nicely nestled atop the microcline matrix. The smaller, pristine, 1.7 cm fluorite cube has purple tinting on the backside of the crystal. Two corners of the large cube are cleaved and broken and bruised smokies are noted. This remains a highly representative and uncommon combination from this locale with a nice provenance. Purple fluorescence. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection and purchased in 1989 at the Columbine Mineral Shop in Ouray. Ex Mitch Gunnell (#670), who got the piece in 1935 from the W.C. Dyer Collection, according to Bob's label. A must for the Colorado collector.
