Item Description

If you're a fan of Colorado minerals, then you know that Topeka Mine Fluorites are about as rare as they come in terms of mineral specimens from the San Juan Mountains. We've only had a few of them pass through our hands over the years. What makes this piece special is not only the incredibly obscure locality, but the gorgeous tetrahexahedral habit of the Fluorites! Several sharp, gemmy, lustrous crystal of very pale green colored Fluorite measuring up to 8 mm across are sitting on a layer of sparkling white Quartz on host rock matrix. You can clearly see the little four-sided pyramids (tetra) sitting on what would be the six cube faces (hexa) of each Fluorite crystal. If you collect Fluorites or Colorado specimens, do NOT miss out on this one as it's excellent quality for what it is, and virtually impossible to find on the market these days. Valued at $700 in the inventory. The piece was collected in the 1990s by Robert Stoufer, who found the best of these pieces over the years. From the collection of Gary Weaver of Prescott, Arizona (1944-2019). Gary was an electrical engineer who worked for many years for Hughes Aircraft in California.
