Item Description

Please note: This specimen comes labeled as being found in the Joplin District, but there is no report of any Fluorite ever being found in this area, so it's almost certainly from another locality in Missouri. My first thought was that it could possibly be from Pea Ridge, but it truly doesn't look like any I've seen from there. If anybody out there has some info as to the origin of this specimen, please let us know, so we can update it in the listing. With that said, this piece is a gemmy, sharp, cubic group of Fluorite with colors ranging from nearly white / colorless to soft golden yellow with hints of lavender here and there. The piece is not without damage, as there are several nicks that can be seen with the naked eye, but it's the locality that matters here as Missouri is not known for Fluorite, and this piece would make a great addition to any Fluorite suite, a collection of Midwest minerals or a Missouri mineral collection. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#2617). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
