Item Description

This is the first specimen of Fluorite that we've ever had to offer from this locality, which is confirmed by the old dealer label accompanying the piece (from Jim's Minerals of Encino, California). The specimen hosts several sharp, lustrous, well-formed, stacked cubic crystals of Fluorite measuring up to 2.0 cm on edge, free of matrix. There is a layered / "built-up" growth on the surface of the Fluorites, giving them a wonderful three-dimensional appearance. The color is a very dark purple, and requires a good amount of light to show through. There is a bit of internal "phantom" zoning that is best seen in some of the smaller crystals, but you need a decent light to see it. Overall, the piece is in good shape, thought not completely damage free. If you collect worldwide Fluorites or minerals of Mexico, do not pass up the chance to get your hands on a specimen from a rare locality that clearly dates back at least a few decades just based upon the age of the label that came with the piece.
