Fluorite (rare locality specimen - 2017 find)

If you're a Fluorite collector, be sure to check this one out as very few are available, and we were the ones who purchase the lion's share of good pieces from the 2017 find. One of our good friends in Peshawar was able to provide us with this parcel, and we were surprised to find out that they were discovered in Balochistan, which is best known for the beautiful fiery "Alpine-type" Brookite specimens that started coming out in the early to mid 2000s. This material is not what one would expect from this area, but a few other dealers from Pakistan had them labeled as also coming from this area, so I'm pretty sure they're legit. This piece features a beautifully intergrown group of crystallized Fluorite with distinct, sharp cubic that have a unique color combination. In indoor lighting, there are pastel shades of lavender and nearly colorless zones with distinct "smoky quartz" colored cores, but in sunlight, you can see more of a blue color and the edges transition into a soft white tone. This combination of colors is virtually unseen in Fluorite. With backlighting, you can see that the crystals are very gemmy. The piece is not completely damage free, but there are many pristine attractive cubes all over. You can also see that several crystals show classic interpenetrant twins on a cube diagonal axis. The largest individual cube measures 1.2 cm on edge. Keep your eyes open as we will be offering more of these in the coming weeks and months, and there will be specimens that show colors ranging from purples, to blues to pinks to colorless and smoky hues. I haven't seen anything new in a couple years from this locality, so don't miss out if you've always wanted one. Priced at $400 in the inventory.
