Item Description

This is a rather hard to find Fluorite specimen from the famed Tae Hwa Mine in South Korea. While this locality is best known for its tungsten species like Ferberite and Scheelite, the Fluorites are quite good, though nearly impossible to find on the market today. This piece is a showy and fine quality example featuring a coverage of well-formed, very sharp, semi-lustrous, pale lilac colored cubes measuring up to 5 mm sitting on black Ferberite matrix, with a "dusting" of Quartz. We even found some TINY brown Scheelite crystals (see micro photo) on the piece, a staple from this locality. There is a bit of roughness in a few spots, but the piece is largely damage-free. These specimens are very hard to come by on the market now, and if you're a fan of worldwide Fluorites, don't miss out on this one, as they were mined several decades ago, and will never be mined again.
From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#34 K), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel. We at The Arkenstone have the privilege of offering the remainder of this great worldwide collection through our various platforms.
