Fluorite (rare locality and color combination)

If you're a Fluorite collector, be sure to check this one out as very few are available, and we actually purchased the lion's share of good pieces from the 2017 find. One of our good friends in Peshawar was able to provide us with this lot, and we were surprised to find out that they were discovered in Balochistan, which is best known for the beautiful fiery "Alpine-type" Brookite specimens that started coming out in the early to mid 2000s. This material is not what one would expect from this area, but a few other dealers from Pakistan had them labeled as also coming from this area, so we're confident in the locality info. This piece is a solid group of crystallized Fluorite which features sharp, translucent, slightly "stacked", intergrown cubes that have a unique color combination with a nearly colorless hue in indoor lighting (they're actually a very pale lavender in sunlight), but the most interesting aspect of the coloring is a rarely seen smoky grey hue alone one edge! This combination of colors is virtually unseen in Fluorite. With backlighting, you can see that the crystals are gemmy, and the piece is actually partially crystallized on the. It's in great condition on the display side, with no major damage that I can see. The largest individual cube measures 3.2 cm on edge. We haven't seen anything new in a couple years from this locality, so don't miss out if you've always wanted one. Priced at $800 in the inventory.
