Fluorite (rare locality)

Item Description

When someone mentions Fluorite from New Hampshire (especially gemstones), most people think of the green stones from the Wise Mine. This particular gem is from the locality at Middle Mountain, in Conway, New Hampshire, and is one of the VERY few I've seen. It's a good sized stone, weighing in at over 15 carats, and has a classic "Emerald" cut. What really makes it different and special is the fact that it's purple, which is a far cry from the green material from the Wise Mine. It's actually not a solid purple hue, as it shows alternating zones of purple and colorless hues. Some slight eye-visible inclusions are present, but this isn't as much about the clarity as it is the size and uncommon color for New Hampshire.
