Item Description

This piece comes from a new and unexpected discovery a few years ago in the Gobi Desert of Mongolia. Please note: These specimens were originally labeled as coming from the Choir area, and were mined by Spirifer Minerals, but the correct locality as of the time of this posting is the Sümber District, Govisumber Province, Mongolia. This small cabinet sized specimen is an attractive display piece featuring a gemmy, sharp, lustrous Fluorite group with individual cubic crystals measuring up to 5.4 cm on edge, siting on a thin layer of matrix coated by drusy grey Quartz. When backlit, you can see a bit of purple color zoning in the central portion of the piece. Very good quality with only a bit of roughness / incomplete growth on the front edge. Very few of these are on the market, so if you collect Fluorites, don't miss out on this excellent specimen from this remote part of the world.
